The portable medela was recommended to me by friends who loved it and it worked well for me however, it wasn’t the case for me.Details & Specs for Spectra S1 Plus Electric Breast Pump - Hospital Strength I’m pumping just as much volume, maybe even more now, in the same or less time as the medela hospital grade plus the spectra feels more gentle leading to far less soreness/tenderness. The S1 is hospital grade and the suction is amazing, if not better than the medela hospital grade. We were lucky to be able to return the portable medela and purchase the spectra S1 and all I will say is that I wish I did it sooner. During this time, I tried the portable medela I had purchased however, the suction was poor and I never was able to pump lots of milk.maybe only 5-10ml compared to 60-100ml in 15 mins with the hospital grade medela. We had purchased the medela portable flex machine however, the midwives and LCs told me that the suction was not strong enough to establish a great supply and I was advised to hire a hospital grade medela pump which I did for the first 10 weeks. Pump is great! I had breast reduction 10 years before giving birth to my first born and was informed by the LCs that I needed to pump constantly to increase and establish a sufficient supply of milk.
